Quality Over Quantity

As try-outs for winter sports quickly approach, The Institute coaches are hearing more and more about the right way to prepare. Institute Director of Basketball, Coach Matt Barnett, has some sound advice for all prospects!

Quality over quantity. A lot of young players  say they’re going to the gym to work on their game and they do so very often. What they don’t realize is that when they are not working out at game speed and shooting game type shots, it is not helping them progress as quickly as they could be. Spending one hour in the gym with a qualified trainer or coach is much more beneficial than going to your local rec center and just “shooting around”. In these last few weeks before tryouts make sure that you are preparing yourself to be the best basketball player that you can be by training for quality in a game-type setting rather than lazy quantity.
