Chauncey Billups, also known as “Mr. Big Shot” is a 5 time NBA All Star who played 17 seasons in the league. He was fortunate enough to play on numerous NBA teams, including the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, and of course, the Denver Nuggets. Chauncey is not only an NBA Champion, Finals MVP and 5 time All Star, but also has been regarded as one of the most well-known and well-respected professional basketball players to ever play the game. Before his extensive career as a professional athlete, Chauncey, who was born in Denver, Colorado, graduated from George Washington High School where he was a four-time All-State player, as well as the three-time recipient of the Colorado Mr. Basketball title. Billups then made the decision to stay in Colorado and attend the University of Colorado where he led the Buffaloes to their first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 28 years.
From a very young age, Chauncey knew that he wanted to become an NBA player, but it wasn’t necessarily his size and stature that put him above the rest. Throughout his playing career as a basketball player he was known as the guy that used his head on the court rather than his body. On top of being one of the most profound and well respected NBA players, he was also known as one of the best teammates in the entire league. His determination and passion for the game, coupled with his uncanny ability to lead was what made him such a great player for so many years in the NBA.
Today, Chauncey being retired from the game, has not lost sight of where his passion lies and has shifted his focus from being an elite NBA player to shaping the next generation of elite players. The Chauncey Billups Elite Basketball Academy (“CBEBA”) was founded by Chauncey, along with the current General Manager of the Panorama Wellness and Sports Institute, Ronnie Degray. The “CBEBA” is a premier basketball program made up of kids from all across Colorado where the main goal is to shape the development and skills of these young kids to hopefully one day follow in Chauncey’s footsteps.
In addition to being the chairman and president of this great organization, Chauncey Billups has become a basketball analysts for ESPN, as well as the Co-Owner of the Panorama Wellness and Sports Institute. Being born and raised in Colorado, it was a perfect fit for Chauncey to join the PWSI team and we could not be more excited about this opportunity. With everything else that Chauncey has involved himself in, he still finds the time to come into the facility and be the Co-Owner that we all expected him to be. Whether that be coming in just to say hello and make sure everything is running smoothly or to get a workout, Chauncey has always made it a priority to stay involved with the basketball programs at the Institute.
